Twelve Days of Yule

Our kids have clearly gotten a lot out of the daily candle lighting, and have grown from the messages and daily discussions on what they mean.

Candle Blessing: Today we lit twelve candles to bless the Sacred Mysteries, all our friends, our paths in life, our chance to grow and learn, the sacred cycles, our loved ones, our health, our creations, our home, where we live, what we have, and who we are.

Because the book I am using only goes up to twelve, I will need to come up with another 12 reasons to light a candle for. Thoughts on what I should do?

Craft for the day:  Rice Crispy “gingerbread” house.  We were supposed to make the treats today, and then decorate tomorrow, but the mister did not have time to make them.  Maybe tomorrow.

Story of the day: The Star Child, a hardback book we found at the library.  A little girl sets off to see what she could see of the world with nothing but a piece of bread.  When she meets those in need, she literally begins giving the clothes off of her back.  It has a very important lesson of realizing you have much more than you really know.

I may try to make this crown:

  1. What a lovely post. It is nice to see the children involved in the lead up to Yule, I am sure they will enjoy the activities, which one has been their favourite so far? Best wishes 🙂
